Thank you so much to Steph(  )for nominated me. Check out her awesome blog here! Sorry it’s so delayed!!

The Rules:

Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you and link back to their blog.

Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.

Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.

List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or in your blog.

The questions I was asked:

1.What do you hope to accomplish in 2018?

I hope to progress in my blogging, I’m already learning so much and getting more and more into the swing of it, I really hope it helps me get to where I want to go with it. I hope to do some travelling, more small trips this year maybe, go away with my best friend of 18 years as we’ve never done that (crazy I know). Train my dog!! I want to get her up to scratch with her behaviour and properly build that bond with her.

2. Would you rather live someplace where it always rains or where it always snows?

I think I would prefer rain all the time. Snow is fun for a while but we all know as soon as the snow is gone it’s that horrible the day after with all the muddy slush. So even though rain is grim, I think I would prefer it so snow all the time.

3. How did you choose your blog name?

Well, My name is Hannah Fish, I knew I wanted to use the name ‘Fish’ somehow as I’ve always been quite fond of my last as it’s bit quirky and different. So then I started thinking about my life and how my world/home would be seen as a fishtank- where the fishes live…so then I came up with ‘Life in a Fishtank’ Basically my live, what I do, in and around where I live.

4. What is your favorite food?

Favourite food is such a hard question!! I’ve always loved food and had a really good appetite even from a young age. I love sushi and Thai food, I’m always looking for new Japanese and Thai restaurants to try out, so I’d properly say that’s my favourite type of food but I always have a massive sweet tooth!!! Like cake is my jam! So I really don’t know.

5. What’s your favorite blog post you’ve written so far?

My favourite blog post is probably the one I wrote about turtles. It was such an awesome experience for me, that I just had so much fun writing about it and learning more about turtles and what we can do to save them.  I wrote the post the day after I swam with turtles in Barbados, it was so perfect! It has to be my fav.

6. What type of makeup could you never live without? (mascara, lipstick, bronzer, etc.)

Such a difficult choice! I think about it all the time too and I still don’t know what my answer is. If I had to pick I think I would choose mascara, I think my eyes are quite small so without mascara I would have little shrimp eyes. I need mascara to open them up! But I also have to use eyelash curlers, I need both!!

7. What book could you read a million times and never get tired of?

Easy. Michael McIntyre’s autobiography ‘Life and Laughing’. He’s been one of my favourite comedians for so long, and when I bought his book I read it 3 times, one after the other, and laughed so much every time. I know if I went to read it again I would still find it hilarious.

8. How or where do you find inspiration to write?

I try to mix up my posts as I like to write about so many things. Since I’ve been blogging it has made me think about, do more things, and be creative about what to write about. I’d say I find most of my inspiration to write, just from things I love (if that isn’t too cheesy and easy) I basically just think about what my hobbies are, what I love and how I could make it into an interesting blogspot, hopefully with some tips for readers.

9. What quote do you live by?

Just keep swimming. It’s the little moto on my blog, but basically all I mean is ‘Just keep going’, everything always turns out fine in the end. So try not to worry.

10. If you could be any animal what would you be and why?

I think I would be a dog. 1) they’re one of my favourite animals so of course I want to be one 2) I think I relate the personality of dogs: loyal, quick learner, like exercise, easily pleased and quite hairy!!

11.What are you currently watching on Netflix?

I’ve just finished Brooklyn 99, I’d pretty much seen them all before but it is one of my favourite shows, I think the comedy is absolutely class so I can easily watch them over and over again. But now I’m thinking about starting Peaky Blinders, my brother has raved about it, as well as so many other people so I think I need to give it a go.

Right, I’m so happy to be finally doing one of these, I have been nominated before but haven’t understood/have time to do it!! Now I’m making the time!! So here we go, please call me out if I get it wrong, don’t want to look silly. I was nominated for this buy the lovely … It makes me so happy and more confident blogging to be nominated for this blogger award. I never thought my little blog would ever get any views or anything, so to watch it grow and make so many blogger friends, is way more than I expected and I love it! Blogger awards seem to be a great way to show other bloggers than you love their work- welcome to my first one!!

Thank you so very much to Megan from OhboyitsMegan for the nomination, she has a great blog so go and check it out!!

The Rules:

  • Write 7 interesting facts about yourself
  • Nominate 15 amazing bloggers for the award

7 Interesting Facts about Me

  1. I have a massive phobia of lifts. Ever since I wandered into one as a 3 year old and rode up and down it for like an hour on my own, I have this huge fear of them. The lift got stuck or stopped I just remember being stood in their with all these strangers. And of course my parents were worrying and trying to find me, it wasn’t like they just lost me, I literally wandered off. I remember waving ‘bye bye’ to them when the lift door closed! But now I can’t really go in them. Weird.
  2. I’ve recently become a dog owner, by some what unconventional way you might say. I imported my dog from the Caribbean when I came home from a trip. She is called Pea, short for Sweet Pea (she had that name when I met her and it just seemed to stick, plus she does have a bit of a pea head so seems to fit). She is an island mix, but we guess she is collie/terrier and maybe dalmatian. She was malnourished as a pup, as she was abandoned on the island so had to fight to eat and survive, so we think she should’ve have been a lot bigger, but not having much food as stunted her growth. She is the most friendly attention seeking dog ever and I love her!
  3. I did judo for 5 years. I started when I was 8 and then quit when I was 13 as I hadn’t progressed very far through the belts due to my teacher, so as a sassy teenager I gave it up. Looking back though I really wish I had kept going. I was actually in class with someone then that is now in my closest friendship group- just a coincidence!
  4. I had open heart surgery when I was 7 as I had multiple issues going on down there. I don’t know the medical terms for the things that were wrong and I can barely remember the common names for them, mainly because it freaks me out thinking about it. But basically if I hadn’t had had that surgery when I was 7, my lifespan would have been cut in 3. I basically would have been starting to get really by my late 20’s and not survived past 30 probably. (on a happier note….)
  5. I spent 6 months on Vancouver Island in 2015 being a nanny, it was one of the best things I’ve done to date, it got me out of my home town, I learnt so many new skills, met so many amazing people and saw my favourite place in the entire world- Canada.
  6. I worked in a fine dining restaurant for 5 years from the age of 14 doing the desserts. I got the job after I finished work experience in Year 10, and basically did it every weekend for 5 years. I became well known for the soufflé on the menu,as I had a knack for making them the tallest (not sure I could remember how now).
  7. I have a weird obsession with phone cases. At some point I owned over 20 for sure. Not sure why, I just like to change it up!!

My Go To Makeup After 4 months of a Bare Face!

Beauty, Uncategorized

Helloooo makeup lovers, it feels so good to be doing a beauty post, I’ve not being trying anything new or even wearing makeup as I’ve been away, so it’s very nice to start doing it again. I thought it would be really interesting to talk about what I put on my face the first time I put makeup back on after having a completely bare face for 4 months! See what I still love, what’s changed and get the creative makeup juices flowing again!

I’m going to start with eyebrows, I always do my eyebrows first as I’m pretty messy so I like to get them out the way then I can tidy them up with concealer when I get to that step (I also think it’s the most boring BUT most important step). I used the NYX Tame & Frame Brow Pomade in brunette … now it was a little dried up which is understandable as it’s been untouched for so long but even considering that, it did a pretty good job. It is my perfect brow colour and I really like the finish once you’ve brushed it out. This pomade was the first pomade I’d ever tried, and I was a bit scared when I first started using it as it can be so easy to over do it. But once I’d got used to it, I just love the finished look. Very clean. And when it comes to eyebrows, I like them pretty well groomed.

Next, I went in my primer, it was a super cheapy one, the Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer I first picked this up on a an offer they had on Rimmel like 3 years ago, 2 for £10 or something, anyway I loved it and have been repeat buying since! It really filled in my pores and despite it being a bright white when you apply it to your face, it doesn’t give you a white cast or show under your foundation. Plus even though I can have oily skin, it was really nice and moisturising and didn’t add to any of my oiliness.

Carrying on with face products, I then went in with foundation. Now, I had to go and purchase a darker foundation as I had caught a cheeky tan on my trip. I purchased the Elf Flawless Finish Foundation in almond … I have wanted to try Elf products forever, and when I came home and walked into my Superdrug, allllllll the makeup stands had been redone with a few added extra brands thrown in there- it was so exciting! I managed to only pick up 2 things, the foundation and the Elf Highlighter in Blush Gems. I had heard Kathleen Lights talk about these Elf products and I really value her opinion so I thought may as well give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised (just because Kathleen as dry skin and I have oily) the foundation still worked an absolute treat. Blended really nicely, left a natural finish and only being £7.50 can’t go wrong really!

Next, I grabbed my concealer to go under my eyes and to highlight the centre of my face. I used Bourjois Radience Reveal Concealer in beige. This concealer truly does what it says, it illuminates, corrects and adds hydration. Even though I have oily skin, under my eyes can get quite dry during the winter, so this bit of added moisture is really nice. The colour was spot on and blended really nicely. I always use a damp Real Technique Miracle Complexion Sponge when blending out both foundation and concealer just to get the most natural look. Be careful with this concealer though as I have found it can oxidise quite badly, it only worked for me when I got back as my skin tone had changed. It was wayyyy to dark for me when I’m at my palest! I then set my whole face down with … This powder is such an old school classic, an oldie but a goodie! For me, it does the job, doesn’t crease and keeps me pretty matte but not flat matte Rimmel Stay Matte Powder if you get me? However I hate the packaging!! Every single one I’ve ever owned has cracked and broken within a week, so annoying. But it won’t stop me using it.

Moving onto contour and highlight, yet again I’m using an oldie but a goodie for contour. The Benefit Hoola Bronzer is still one of my favourites for bronzing and giving that slight shadow for a nice subtle day time contour. Mine is getting so old now so definitely going to repurchase however I would love to try something different so let me know if you have any bronzer suggestions!! Yet again, I’m not a fan off the packaging, I like really sleek slim packaging, and this little box it comes in does just drive me a bit mad. For highlight, as I’ve already mentioned, I used the Elf Highlighter in Blush Gems as it was a new purchase of mine. Katheleen Lights (Check out her channel!) said when she first used it, she was really disappointed as it didn’t give off a good glow, but when she scarped the top layer of, it was much easier to work with and now gives an amazing subtle glow! I followed for instructions and she was so right, just the perfect amount of glow. However, I feel the colour I got was a little to pink for me, going to go back and buy one with more gold/pearl tones. They are super cheap so might even buy one of each colour. Thanks Kathleen!

Onto the eyes, I had already primed my eyelids with the concealer I applied so didn’t see it necessary to add a primer on top as I was only going to put a bit of shadow on. I used my Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette and basically just repeatedly blended colours ‘Milk Chocolate’ and ‘Semi-Sweet’ into my crease, with a bit of ‘Salted Caramel’ as my transition shade. I have no bad things to say about this palette, it is worth every penny, the colours are incredible, they blend like you’ve sat there for hours doing it when it actual fact you just chucked them on, AND it smells like chocolate…like c’mon. Seriously. Love it. All I did next was whack on some mascara, my favourite is the Maybelline Lash Sensational. I am so bad at trying new mascaras, that when I find one that keeps me lashes curled aswell as sepearated and long it is very very unlikely I’m going to switch to a different one.

Finally, my favourite step, lips! I had gone very natural really so didn’t know if I wanted to keep the subtle look going or add a pop off colour. In the end I decided to keep it subtle  and go with MAC Modesty. This lipstick is such a cute colour, natural and so moisturising (forever trying to keep those chapped winter lips at bay). I love how it’s the kind of colour you can just slap on without a mirror. It doesn’t last the longest as it’s a cremesheen formula but if you’re anything like me, you love applying lipstick so it doesn’t matter to me if I have to reapply!

So guys, (if you’ve made it this far well done) that is what I first put on my face after not having makeup for 4 months! I think it’s quite interesting, it shows you what my real favourite products are as I just gravitated towards them first. It is so nice to be writing about makeup again. I’m hopefully going to be doing a recent skincare routine too at some point.

Let me know what your winter makeup favourites are and what I should try next!

Thanks so much for reading x
